The Infrastructure Essentials BEAD Toolkit is an essential planning tool for ISPs and state broadband offices anticipating Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program funding as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
This Technology and Competition Module, an add-on component, complements the Toolkit by displaying technology and competitive information.
The Module shows the availability of the following technologies at a block level:
- Fiber (Optical Carrier / Fiber to the end user)
- Cable (DOCSIS 1, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, and 3.1)
- DSL (Asymmetrical xDSL, ADSL2, ADSL2+, and Symmetric xDSL)
- Fixed Wireless Access (terrestrial)
The Module also shows the footprint, at a tract level, of the following national fixed broadband competitors:
- Crown Castle Fiber
- Level 3
- Southwestern Bell
- US Cellular
- US TelePacific
The Module includes an exhaustive spreadsheet database of all fixed competitors, except satellite, sorted by name, location, and technology. Finally, it shows competitive intensity (number of competing entities) on a tract-by-tract basis.
This product is an add-on to The Infrastructure Essentials BEAD Toolkit. It is not intended to be used as a separate stand-alone product.
